Three Department Spreads

I decided to go with Adobe Caslon rather than Sabon for the text type. Although I think Sabon is the more beautiful font, it doesn't seem to offer some characters that I will need--Greek and mathematical symbols, for example.

Apparently Sabon Next does, but the font family costs over $900!

Here are the department spreads:

First Feature Article, Two Alternatives

First One
I think this one--at least the opening spread-is more corporate:

Margins are:
top: .5"
inside: .5" each (1" total)
outside: .75"
bottom: 1"
Text is in Adobe Caslon, 9/12
Head, subheads, captions, photo credits, and pull quotes are in forms of Univers.

Second One
The opening spread here is more artsy. Not sure I like the two columns in the text spread.

Margins are:
top: 1"
inside: .5" each (1" total)
outside: .5"
bottom: .75"
Text is still in Adobe Caslon, 9/12.
Headline, photo credit, and caption are in forms of Universe. Subhead and pull quote are in Adobe Caslon bold.

More on the magazine, and content list

So since this will be a real magazine, I thought I'd post the mission statement. The magazine doesn't have a name yet, btw.
[Name of magazine] delivers timely, essential knowledge to decision-makers in the finance and banking sectors. The journal provides unbiased coverage of industry developments, detailed analyses of current data and trends, engaging profiles of preeminent players, and keen insights into career management. Through factual reporting and theoretical investigations from a variety of investment schools, [magazine] establishes itself at the forefront of the investment arena, and serves as a channel for discussion and analysis among the leading voices in the financial community.
The audience will be:
  • people of working age (25-retirement)
  • male and female
  • financial professionals
  • mainly urban (work in cities, maybe live in the suburbs)
  • high-income (make at least $100,000 per year)
Feature Articles (I checked around and saw some interesting text on these subjects):
  • Facebook and other social networking sites and how they are transforming Internet businesses
  • Environmentalism and business -- how companies can go green and still make money
  • Corporate scandals -- why do people steal, what businesses have learned from the scandals
Departments:
  • Interview with a well-known investor
  • A compilation of short summaries/reviews of books that people in the business should be reading
  • Column or columns written by experts in specific areas, to be determined
End Department: Photo collage of recent events.

Any feedback is appreciated.
